I have been on a steep learning curve about social media in service of my first novel, Lost Village, The Conawalki Murder Mysteries Book One. While I am a firm believer in lifelong learning, this is not the kind of learning I expected as I approach my 70th year.

Even considering how to do this well is a question of learning. Should I do research to see best practices in blogging? (Yikes!) What exactly is a blog anyway? It sounds like a combination of bog and log, which doesn’t sound particularly appealing!

When I asked Google, AI informed me with this about blogging:

“A blog is essentially a website, or a section of a website, where content is published in the form of discrete, often informal, diary-style entries called posts. These posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, with the most recent post appearing first. Blogs are often interactive, encouraging readers to leave comments and engage with the content. They can be used for personal expression, business promotion, or sharing information on various topics.”

So, in this section of my website, I will leave posts that are a combination of personal observations that might be of interest to readers, promotions for Lost Village and its sequels, and information on all of the interesting things connected to the book – like Canadian history, music history, the history of Eastern Ontario and the St. Lawrence Seaway, and 2SLGBTQ+ history (or some combination of these).

If you have thoughts as you read, or things you are curious about, or your own stories about any of these topics, please feel free to share. That’s the kind of blog I will be interested to read!
